Who will benefit from Body Control Pilates?

The Body Control Pilates method can work for everyone, regardless of fitness level.

It is a method of exercise hugely beneficial to anyone working in an office, at a computer, or behind the wheel of a car for long periods.  Round shouldered posture, stiff neck, backache and poor breathing patterns will all be addressed and improved by ongoing practice of the Body Control Pilates method.

It is also a method highly suited to those rehabilitating after an injury or a long period of illness (such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) or those with muscular or bony problems who need to be careful with the style of exercise they do (such as those affected by Osteoporosis or following joint replacement).

Increasing muscle strength in a more efficient way also means that those who practice the methods of Pilates generally achieve more in sports that they perform.  Many of our top athletes now use the Pilates method as part of their training.  Musicians, actors and dancers have secretly known about Pilates for as many years as the method has existed!!

Following your medical screening, assessment session and the close observation of your ability to perform the exercises, a suitable level of class will be recommended.  However, whichever class you join, with Body Control Pilates you work at your own pace, progressing each exercise at a rate appropriate to your ability to perform the exercise.  Once you have learnt and understood the basics of the Body Control Pilates method, this will become second nature.  During a Pilates class, taught well, you are much less likely to suffer any muscle or ligament damage sometimes associated with other fitness regimes.
